Working Tax Credit

If you receive working tax credits, you may be able to claim as much as 70% of your childcare fees. To find out if you are eligible, contact the Tax Credit Helpline on 0345 300 3900 or visit https://www.gov.uk/childcare-costs-for-tax-credits

Child Care Vouchers

Parents can pay via the Childcare Voucher scheme whereby an amount is deducted and taken off your salary before tax and National Insurance. This allows parents to use part of their salary to pay for childcare that would otherwise be taxed. To find out if you are eligible, contact your HR department as most employers are able to participate in the scheme.

Universal Credit

If you receive Universal Credit, you can claim for 85% of childcare costs. To find out if you are eligible, call 0345 600 0723 or visit www.gov.uk/help-with-childcare-costs/universal-credit

Childcare grants

Full-time students who have dependent children are eligible for a Childcare Grant which pays for 85% of childcare costs throughout the year. The grant is available to full-time students who are receiving or eligible for the student finance package. You can find out more and apply for a childcare grant here: www.gov.uk/childcare-grant
